Salem Campus's Transitional Career Program

Salem County Special Services School District serves students with special needs living in Salem and Cumberland counties. The Transitional Career Program resides at the Salem Campus. This program was designed by a dedicated group of special educators, job coaches, and administrators to provide our high school and postsecondary students with the training they need to live successful, purposeful lives post-graduation. We believe in our community, our school, and most importantly, our students. The future is bright.

Meet The Principal

. Name- Mr. Jim Helder Education- BA in Psychology, Master of Social Work, M.Ed School Leadership Certifications- School Social Worker, Principal Experience- 10+ years in Special Education with the SCVTS and SCSSSD as a school counselor and administrator. Interests- Spending time with my family, coaching my children's sports teams, fishing, sports, and enjoying life. Purpose- I am a special educator because I believe that all children are capable of learning and should be afforded an equal opportunity to do so.  This is the most rewarding job that I could ever imagine having, and I love being able to not only teach others, but also learn from them as well

School Leadership (2016) Certifications: Business Education K-12, Teacher of Students with Disabilities K-12 Experience: 7 years with the Transitional Career Program.  SLE Instructor.  Interests: Snowboarding, Physical Fitness, Traveling, Wakeboarding, Motorcycles, Entrepreneurship Purpose: Provide students with the skills necessary to maximize their potential in transitioning into adulthood.
